A 2023 Lottery Mock Draft
Jun 11, 2023
ITS THE YEAR OF THE FRENCH as Wembanyama deservedly takes the front spot as the best prospect in this class and arguably any class including those of Lebron James and Luka Doncic. I've waxed lyrical about the Frenchman so do check out my piece about him above. Following him is an arduous task unfortunately placed upon the shoulders of Scoot Henderson, a generational talent in his own right just probably ageing out at the wrong time.
There has been chatter amongst NBA scouts and executives that if Scoot was eligible for the 2022 class he would be a consensus number 1 pick. It seems any team who misses out on the top pick would be distraught at first till they see Scoot in their open gym for the first time.242 players from around the globe have entered their name into the lottery that is NBA stardom with only 58 picks available to make their dreams come true (thanks a lot Sixers and Nuggets).
There seems to be a bit of a cooling down period with the draft with a lot of sure fire selections such as Duke duo Kyle Filipowski and Tyrese Proctor choosing to remain in college for another year with one explanation dissipating amongst the basketball verse being the weakness of the forthcoming 2024 Draft which would allow them not only another year of development but a chance at the gauntlet that is a top 10 pick.
